Carbon Quota Report
bakergoodchild has partnered with Carbon Quota to carry out a comprehensive audit of its greenhouse gas emissions, producing its first Operational Carbon Footprint report covering the full 2025 calendar year. The report measures emissions across all three scopes: Scope 1, covering direct emissions from natural gas used for boilers (23.72 tCO₂e); Scope 2, covering purchased electricity for the Birmingham site and company vehicles (177.27 tCO₂e on a market-based basis); and Scope 3, capturing indirect emissions from employee commuting, business travel, working from home, office goods, IT hardware, and waste (79.42 tCO₂e). The total operational carbon footprint for 2025 came to 280.41 tCO₂e on a market-based basis. The full report, available on the bakergoodchild website, breaks down each of these areas in detail, including intensity ratios per employee, per million items sent, and per square foot of building space, giving a transparent and benchmarkable view of the business’s environmental impact.
FSC
Being FSC accredited means bakergoodchild meets the rigorous environmental and social standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council. This accreditation ensures that the paper and other forest-based materials we use come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. To achieve FSC certification, we underwent a thorough assessment of our sourcing practices, supply chain transparency, and commitment to sustainable forestry.
By choosing FSC-certified materials, we support forest conservation, protect wildlife habitats, and respect the rights of indigenous communities and workers. This accreditation reflects our dedication to ethical sourcing and sustainability in every aspect of our business.
carbon capture
A carbon capture scheme is a planned or organised approach to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by capturing and either storing or reusing the CO₂. At bakergoodchild, we do this with the support of our paper supply chain partners.
recycling
The largest source of materials used at bakergoodchild is paper, so all of our unused paper is securely recycled across the business, from the factory to our office environments.
potato starch
Potato starch is biodegradable and increasingly used in sustainable packaging as an alternative to petroleum-based materials. Bakergoodchild introduced this type of packaging to support our customers with their sustainability goals and subsequently continued to use this product as part of our contribution to responsible sourcing.
Two Sides
Becoming a member of Two Sides demonstrates bakergoodchild’s commitment to the environment, sustainable procurement and positive action to reduce sustainable impacts.
LED Lighting
LEDs use up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs, making them one of the most energy-efficient lighting options available. LEDs don’t contain toxic materials like mercury and are fully recyclable, making them a more sustainable choice for the environment and bakergoodchild.
