The Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) is an educational charity, whose mission is to ‘promote the study, practice and improvement of music in Christian worship. The RSCM supports thousands of Affiliated churches and members across the UK and worldwide.

RSCM’s membership communications are a vital part of their engagement strategy and community outreach programme. bakergoodchild have worked with RSCM as a trusted partner since 2019, printing and fulfilling their Church Community Magazine mailings, which are distributed worldwide.

Timely delivery of the publication is important to RSCM and its members and so even with the challenges that international delivery can pose, bakergoodchild have always been able to deliver on time for the charity.

The global pandemic however, created (and continues to create) sever disruptions and delays to international freight and postal services.

The challenge:

  • Many of the RSCM’s members are international.
  • The international delays have caused increased correspondence from members enquiring after the whereabouts and expected delivery dates of the publication.
  • At certain times in the ecclesiastical calendar there are time sensitive and time critical communications for sermons and supporting church messaging.

Our Solution:

  • Enclose Global GPS Tracking Devices into sample packs to countries facing most disruption due to pandemic to enable RSCM to monitor actual journey time against industry published times.
  • Send email campaigns to members on the day the item was despatched with tailored expected delivery date based on latest industry information.
  • Send additional email campaigns during transit if the transit times were updated before expected delivery.

By working with RSCM, bakergoodchild were able to significantly reduce calls and pressure on the internal operations team by keeping members updated and informed on progress across multiple communication channels. The innovative use of GPS tracking meant the information gathered on delivery times was the most accurate and up to date.

By using bakergoodchild RSCM benefitted from:

  • Real-time updates and visibility.
  • Accurate delivery information and the ability to adjust the delivery schedule accordingly.
  • Multi-channel and automated communications to members
  • Significant reduction in requirement and time from internal teams
